“A wonderful, keep you guessing whodunit” “I thoroughly enjoyed reading. The characters are curious, friendly and easy going ordinary people, who find themselves with a murder to solve (well, several actually). I will certainly recommend this book to friends, and anxiously await the next book in this series The Amber Crow and the Black Mariah.”

L. C. Mcgee is a fiction writer, but says he’s three steps up from a hack. Instead, he defines himself as a “storyteller”. He is the author of the Amber Crow mystery series, set in the beautiful Northwest San Juan Islands. All books are published by TwoNewfs publishing, located in Western Washington.
He is currently working on the 4th book in the series, The Inn of the Amber Crow. The setting is Bradestone Island again. Since it is a fictitious isle, he says it provides an excellent platform for the vagaries of the characters, including the author.
Vignettes by the author, about his skilled and spirited firefighter father, were published in the books: First Alarm and Second Alarm; where he found the firemen’s peccadillos and humor are unquenchable. Unfortunately, they’re both out of print. Copies were purchased by only those involved in the escapades and their families.
After instructing in the areas of Math and Astronomy, at the H.S. and J.H.S. levels, the author retired and wound up teaching Yoga at a junior college, a hospital and an athletic center, who knew? He said, his terrific guru, Pat Cawthon did.
Before his teaching career, yoga contortions and even after retiring, he was always writing. Too, he enjoys gardening, reading and cooking.
He was a summer lookout for three years at the Seattle Water Department’s Cedar River Watershed. He said, “Yea, I’m a typical homeboy. But with further probing I found he broke away to travel to California, Indiana, New York City including Up-State, Canada, Europe, Hawaii and Oregon. “Hey, don’t knock it,” L.C. Mcgee said. “Oregon is a beautiful state and The Ashland Shakespeare Festival has its fantastic moments, and the coastline is phenomenal! He smiled and admitted he is a bit verbose and overuses exclamation marks.
The author’s favorite holiday is Halloween followed by the December Saturnalia. Yes, he acknowledges that he has weird tastes, “but what can one do?
L. C. Mcgee lives in a coastal village that borders on what he calls the Salish Sea. There, he shares life with his wonderful wife, a wily cat named Tuppence and raises, what he says, are “questionable vegetables”, with his amazing neighbors, Bunky and John, Dave and Leslie.
He likes to read books on Archaeology and the other sciences and mentioned he studied various religions and philosophies and flirted with Existentialism at one time.
His first exposure to real writing was when his writer Grandmother was showing him her treasure trunk in a very hot attic. She gave him three treasures he still has today. The Odyssey, The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam and a pansy covered teapot with an amazing note to her descendants, sequestered inside. She won this treasured teapot in a potato sack race for Grandmothers’ a long time ago at Lincoln Park, West Seattle. Evidently, she was a suffragette, a vocal member of the I.W.W. and had a byline in the old Seattle Star newspaper.
His Grandmother knew Gypsies, Prospectors and some of the members of local tribes. She introduced him to the history and lingo of indigenous peoples which resulted in a story character he developed, that would later become Willie Cloudmaker. A key figure in the Amber Crow Series.
